      It's completely normal to feel a mix of emotions as you embark on this journey. You may feel uncertain, vulnerable, or even apprehensive about what lies ahead. Remember that seeking help is a sign of strength and self-care. It demonstrates your commitment to taking control of your mental health and working towards a happier, more fulfilling life.

      As you begin your therapeutic process, please know that you are not alone. The mental health professionals you will encounter are here to provide a safe and non- judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. They are trained to listen attentively, offer guidance, and assist you in developing the necessary skills to navigate the challenges you may face.

      In therapy, you will have the opportunity to express yourself freely and openly without fear of judgment. It's a space where you can explore your concerns, discover new perspectives, and develop coping strategies tailored to your unique circumstances. Remember, progress takes time, so be patient with yourself. Healing and personal growth are gradual processes, and every small step forward is significant.

      I want to emphasize that your well-being is of utmost importance. Your therapist will work collaboratively with you, taking into account your individual needs, preferences, and goals. Your voice matters, and your active participation in the therapeutic process is highly encouraged. Feel free to communicate openly about your experiences, share your insights, and ask any questions you may have along the way.

      Lastly, I want to remind you to practice self-compassion throughout this journey. Be gentle with yourself as you navigate your emotions, and remember that it's okay to feel vulnerable or to experience setbacks. Trust in your ability to grow and heal, and celebrate your progress, no matter how small it may seem.

      Once again, I commend you for taking this brave step towards seeking help. Remember that there is a supportive network of professionals and loved ones ready to assist you on your path to emotional well-being. Take it one day at a time, and know that you are deserving of the support and care you are receiving.

      Wishing you strength, resilience, and a profound sense of self-discovery on your therapeutic journey.

      With warm regards,

      Team PMH

For First Time Seekers

Hi,

Good on you for taking the first crucial step towards getting the help you need.

If you are seeking support for the first time, please go through the following points that can help;

  • Come in to the session with a general idea of what you would like to discuss.
  • Take time getting comfortable talking about yourself and your life in general
  • Do feel free to ask any questions to your therapist regarding the process that you would like to get details about to better orient yourself.
  • If there are any aspect to yourself you are feeling sensitive or inhibited to share, it’s ok; we can talk about it at a later time. Do let your therapist know.
  • It takes time to warm up to the process. Allow yourself multiple sessions if needed.
  • If needed, have someone accompany you to the initial appointment. They don’t have to participate in the session without your consent, but they can come for moral support.
